Merry belated Christmas! Our Christmas was filled with wonderful family and lots of excitement. Andrew's brother and his family came all the way from Canada to celebrate Christmas, and we were excited to visit with them. Eliza was thrilled to spend many days (and late nights) with her cousins Katherine, Lauren, Thomas and Parker. It was quite a houseful of kiddos! As we were traveling back and forth to Pinopolis quite a bit, we tried to get as much family time in each trip as possible! Needless to say, Eliza's schedule was thrown completely out the window.
We spent Christmas Eve night at our house. After leaving cookies for Santa and carrots for his reindeer, she went to bed full of excitement. The next morning, she was so exhausted from her late night, that we had to wake her up at 8 am. Andrew and I were much too excited to let her sleep any longer. After waking up, she asked if Santa had come, and she was jumping up and down in her crib. When she saw her presents, she said "Look at all those presents for me!". Santa brought her a train set, doll house, backpack, suitcase, and lots of books. She was very matter-of-fact about her present opening though. She opened one present with a little excitement and promptly moved onto the next. It was a process.
We opened presents with my family, and then headed back to Pinopolis for more fun-filled present opening. The children were all so excited!
The excitement continued with a white day after Christmas. Eliza loved playing in the snow with daddy, but she was a tad disappointed that there wasn't enough snow to build a snowman. Apparently snowmen are a big hit!
A few days after Christmas, we returned to our regular routine, but Eliza continued to ask about Ernie the Elf. Maybe he will return next year...
