Cheer Me Up!

I have to share this great moment....

Usually, Eliza is a happy baby. She smiles very often and rarely cries (knock on wood!). Last night though, she was pretty cranky. I was cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, and Andrew was trying to entertain Eliza. Nothing seemed to calm her down though. He tried singing, rocking, walking around - none of these worked. But then, he started dancing....

Eliza was quite thrilled (or thought he was silly) with Andrew's dancing. She immediately started smiling and cooing. It was very cute!

4 Month Check-Up

Today I took Eliza to her 4 month well baby check-up. She is growing well, and the doctor expects her to be a tall & skinny little girl. She weighs 11 pounds, 12 ounces (20th percentile), and she is 24 1/4 inches tall (50%). She did well at the appointment until the dreaded shots. She was screaming and so pitiful. I felt so bad for her! I don't think she really calmed down until about 30 minutes after we left the doctor's office. Thankfully, she is feeling a little better now, and we are so blessed to have such a happy, healthy baby!

First Driving Lesson

Andrew is already giving Eliza driving lessons! She learned how to turn the car on, adjust the radio volume, and put her hands on the wheel. She isn't quite big enough to reach the pedals, but I am sure Andrew will have her learning a lot about cars!

Visiting with the McDonalds

Yesterday Chris, Tina and Madison came to visit us. We had a wonderful time, and it was great to see them! After lunch at Queen Anne's Revenge, we took a harbor cruise on the Spirit of Charleston. Eliza enjoyed the breeze, and it was a true relief from the heat!

Beach Week

The week before last we spent the week at Folly Beach for our annual beach week. We had a wonderful time! Here are some of the highlights....

We walked to the end of Folly Beach to check out the Hammerhead sharks. We certainly didn't swim after seeing these...

Our beach house had a wonderful view of the sunset over the river. We enjoyed the relaxing evenings on the porch before Eliza went to sleep.

Me & My Bumbo

Someone very creative thought of the Bumbo! What an invention! Here is Eliza in her's...

Since I haven't posted in a while, I have some catching up to do! The week before last was quite an adventure for us. Eliza had her first real sickness...

I took her to the doctor, and as we thought, she had a cold. Since she was wheezing, her pediatrician recommended that she have a chest x-ray. Well, I wasn't quite sure how that would work with a baby, but it had to be done! The nurses were so nice and thankfully very helpful. I draped myself in the radiation shield, and one of the nurses and I held her up against the board for the x-ray. It was very awkward, but Eliza was such a trooper! She didn't even cry, which was a total shock to me. I thought we were going to have a true meltdown!

After the x-ray, we trekked around town to both CVS stores. Many minutes and dollars later, we had everything we needed to get Eliza better. The doctor prescribed an asthma medicine to help the wheezing. Included with the inhaler was a plastic contraption to help the medicine actually get in her mouth. It was very intimidating, so thankfully Andrew was there to help!

She is doing better, and I think the beach air helped too! Beach details to come soon...

Happy 4th of July!

Andrew, Eliza and I had a fun-filled 4th of July! We first went over to our neighbors' house for a nice lunch, and then we headed to Pinopolis for some dinner and fireworks with friends. Eliza was a true trooper through it all. By the time we made it to visit Nannie and Papa though, she was out cold! Fortunately, she is used to us lugging her around!

Eliza made it through the fireworks show...for the most part. Hopefully, her head wasn't too smashed from me covering her ears!

Delightful Dinner

Since moving to this house in Charleston, one of our favorite things to do is have dinner on the upstairs porch. The weather is usually nice in the evenings, and there is a good sea breeze to cool the air most nights. Eliza loves being outside, so this sets up perfectly for a good bouncy seat nap for her!

Fishy Visit

Yesterday, Eliza and I went to the aquarium for the first time! We met Molly, Thomas and Parker and her friend Taryn and her children. Eliza slept for the first half, and then quickly woke up when she felt raindrops from the mountains. I am sure it was a rude awakening! I tried to show her the fish and other strange creatures, but I don't think she was too interested. Maybe soon she will understand...

Thanks for the invite Aunt Molly! We had a wonderful time!

Our Funny Little Sleeper

Before she falls into a deep sleep, Eliza twists and turns all over her crib! She loves to suck on her middle and ring finger (at the same time) and cover her face with her other hand. It's quite a sight!

I am just glad she sleeps through the night!

Oohh and Ahhh

In the past couple of days, Eliza has really started talking (or should I say cooing). She will "oohh" and "aahh" and sometimes let out a laugh! This (along with smiling) is probably just about the cutest thing ever!

Yesterday, I was desperately trying to get her cooing on video. I tried several times, but she would stop every time I got the camera out. So, the video below is the only one I could get!

Daddy & Me

One of my favorite things is to watch Andrew and Eliza play when he gets home from work. They have lots of fun "oohing" and "aahhing" (her favorite new thing)! Eliza could stare at her daddy forever!
