Mountain Trip

This past weekend we took a trip to Brevard, NC with my dear college friends and their families. We had plenty of time to catch up since it was absolutely freezing outside! It was the coldest weekend of this winter season. When we arrived on Friday evening, it was 8 degrees, and when we woke up on Sunday morning, it was snowing!

We did bundle up a few times to walk around downtown Brevard and visit Looking Glass Falls. The babies were real troopers through the million layers of clothes and blankets.

And speaking of the babies, they had a wonderful time playing together! We are going to need to teach Eliza to not be a bully though. Several times, she pulled Oliver's pacifier right out of his mouth...and she doesn't even like pacifiers!

We had a great time, and we will hopefully be back soon!

Trouble!

Beware! Eliza has now figured out how to get into trouble! Now that she is crawling and somewhat climbing, she has a new-found sense of power. She has learned to pull herself up on the TV stand, which leads to pushing buttons, pulling of DVDs and of course eating the furniture.

She has also been interested in the plant that sits beside the TV cabinet. For a while, she just tried to pull on the leaves, but yesterday I found her grabbing the soil. I think that plant may be going some place else soon!

Books

Eliza loves books! Mostly she loves to eat the books, but she does have one favorite that she likes to actually read - the ABC book. She grabs for this one first, and she loves the picture of the girl and queen. We usually get some sort of giggle on these pages!

Catch me if you Can

Over the last couple of weeks, Eliza has become VERY mobile. She is now crawling and certainly loves it (videos to come). Given that our living room is small, she can make it from the couch to the TV in about 2 seconds! She has also learned how to escape from her Bumbo. Yikes!

She is figuring out how to stand as well. It's very strange to see her upright! After she finds her balance, I think walking is just around the corner. Oh boy!

Christmas #2

For our "2nd Christmas" we spent the week with Andrew's family. The whole gang was there - all 12 of us and the dog! We had a great time, and the week was full of excitement.

Here are some of the highlights...

Eliza's first Christmas morning!

Posing for the paparazzi kids

Opening a CD from Nannie and Papa...and getting ready to eat the paper

Very thoughtful pose...."Forget the paper. Maybe I can eat this square thing"

Nannie and Papa holding the babies.

Enjoying the beautiful warm weather at Santee Canal State Park after Christmas.

Learning to drive. It may be a few years before the license is actually issued!

A day trip to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. The children loved the petting zoo, and Eliza even got a kick out of the animals! I think she thought the goat was some weird form of dog!

We also took a nature train ride at Magnolia Plantation . The weather was once again beautiful, and we enjoyed seeing the grounds and the plantation regulars...

Perfect pictures. We had hoped to take the perfect picture of the kids in their reindeer antlers. Unfortunately, as you can see, that didn't go over so well :)

Hanging out with Daddy all week!

Oh the fun we have!

Christmas #1

Before Christmas we celebrated with my parents. It was Eliza's first experience with opening presents, and she (of course) enjoyed the paper and bags more than anything else! Once she finally figured out that she was getting some pretty cool (any noisy) toys, her interest peaked :)
